With the artistic direction of choreographer and dance paedagogue Ellen Steinmüller from Fokus Tanz, pupils in the 8th and 1st grades of the Bürgermeister-Schütte-Grund-und Mittelschule, Garmisch-Partenkirchen will develop a dance piece on the theme of dreams, hopes and desires over a three weeks‘ period. William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" and the musical composition by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy serve as a base and source of inspirations.

Fokus Tanz/Tanz und Schule e.V. Munich is a non-profit association that has been organising artistically contemporary dance projects in schools since 2006, since 2018 also in cooperation with the Richard Strauss Festival Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The association is supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich as part of Access to Dance, www.fokustanz.de.

Ellen SteinmüllerEllen Steinmüller completed her professional dance training at the Laban Centre London. After studying pedagogy at the LMU and successfully completing an M.A. in dance therapy at the University of London, she focused her professional activities on dance therapy and dance pedagogy with disadvantaged children and young people. Through her work as a leading dance artist with the renowned organisation Dance United, whose work became known in Germany through the documentary film Rhythm Is It, she gained many years of professional experience in the field of social inclusion through dance and developed a special artistic and pedagogical approach based on the Dance United methodology.
