RICHARD STRAUSS DAYS 2024

The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the death of Richard Strauss. To mark this special occasion, we are delighted to present an eleven-day festival. Meet world-class performers such as Edda Moser, Camilla Nylund, Helmut Deutsch and Günther Groissböck up close and experience music amidst the spectacular mountain scenery of southern Bavaria, where Richard Strauss drew his inspiration.

A series of special highlights await you at the Richard Strauss Days in the composer’s adopted home of Garmisch-Partenkirchen: two symphony concerts with “Don Juan” and
“Ein Heldenleben” with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of our Conductor in Residence Rémy Ballot as well as a concert performance of the opera “Ariadne auf Naxos” as part of a collaboration with the Opera Studio of the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Three chamber music concerts and two song recitals shed light on various aspects of Strauss’ oeuvre. You can also get to know the composer Heinrich Noren, who spent the last years of his life at Lake Tegernsee and referred to Strauss in his works.

Our concerts are framed by numerous events, including a master class, a musical cabaret, brass music, city tours in the footsteps of Strauss, exclusive guided tours of the Villa Strauss and a dance project based on the opera “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck in cooperation with the Kiwanis Club Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Bürgermeister-Schütte-Schule.

The Richard Strauss Days team is looking forward to welcoming you.
