RICHARD STRAUSS TAGE 2023
Enjoying music in the midst of the spectacular mountain scenery of southern Bavaria, where Richard Strauss found his inspiration, is only possible at the Richard Strauss Tage in the composer’s chosen home of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Over the course of five days, you will encounter the leading artists of German Late Romanticism at a level of closeness that few other classical music festivals can offer.
In 2023, you can expect a variety of event formats. Among the classical concerts of the highest artistic level, you can enjoy “Macbeth”, the Suite from “Rosenkavalier” and the “Four Last Songs” with Sarah Marie Kramer and the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Rémy Ballot.
You can also meet Andreas Schager as a singer of Strauss Lieder away from the big opera stages and let the Vienna Chamber Symphony lead you into the unique world of Viennese Late Romanticism. The master class under the direction of world star Petra Lang will give you a taste of the workshop atmosphere and allow you to follow the development of the song and opera voices of today and tomorrow live.
The program of our ambitious concert events will again be framed by various educational formats, such as music walks, lectures and panel discussions, guided tours through the museum of the Richard Strauss Institute, brass music, two dialectal Strauss cabarets with music. In addition, there will be a theater project on “Ariadne auf Naxos”, which will again be realized in cooperation with the Kiwanis Club Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Bürgermeister-Schütte-Schule.
The team of the Richard Strauss Days appreciates your interest and is looking forward to your visit.
